Review of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) by Gordon H — 02 Aug 2016
Fantastic!

Blamed for a terrorist attack on the Kremlin, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the entire IMF agency are disavowed by the U.S. government after the president initiates "Ghost Protocol." Forced to go "off the grid" -- left without resources or backup -- Hunt must somehow clear the agency's name and prevent another attack.
Wow! What an amazing "mission" this was! Tom Cruise actually performed a sequence where Ethan Hunt scales the outside of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai, which is the world's tallest building, without the use of a stunt double! It's my understanding that although he appears to be free solo climbing in the film with the help of special gloves, in reality, he was securely attached to the Burj Khalifa at all times by multiple cables. Industrial Light & Magic digitally erased the cables in post-production. But still--HOLY CRAP! You have to go see this movie if only for that incredible sequence!
I loved this new Mission: Impossible! Instead of just focusing on the actions of just one character, this film showcased the actions of the whole team in taking down the threat they were faced with. it had all of the excitement, humor, and fun that were all a part of the original television show.
