I had to watch this movie FOUR TIMES. before I realized just how amazing it is!

If you don't have patience, avoid watching it. It's a "thinkiing person's movie" rather than an action movie. If you read my reviews, you know that's the kind of movie that I like the best.

It also helps if you watched the original blade runner movie. That movie was not a success financially when it came out. You did not do well at the box office. It has since come to be seen as a milestone in science fiction. I think the same will be said about this movie in a few years. It will be look back upon as a cult movie. But the movie is much more than that. It is visually stunning. It has a deep meaning. It shows a glimpse of a possible future.

Some movie critics criticize the movie for being over budget. They ask why it was necessary to spend $150 million on the movie when they should have known it would not do that well at the box office. (same as the original Bladerunner). What these accountants don't tell you is that you can't put a price on a work of art. This movie is a work of art. A work of art costs what it costs to make it. You can't cut corners when making art. If you ask Picasso or Michelangelo to use cheaper paints, don't expect the same appearance in their finished product.

Yes I am calling this movie a work of art. That is the highest praise I can give to a movie. A work of art is something that I believe will last for decades at least. It also has a soul, an inner life. It is more than the sum of its parts.

Before I close I will say one thing that is avoided by almost every review then I've read. The dialogue in this movie is amazing. There was not one line, one word that is unnecessary. Everything that is said either advances the storyline or explain something. Every line is said artistically. In the movie, Gosling asks Ford about a dog, "Is it real?". There are 100 replies that Harrison Ford could give to that question. He could say, yes or now, or he could say I don't know. Instead, he says something that makes almost everyone smile. Ford tells gosling to "ask him yourself".

So, crank up the projector in your man-cave, or buy tickets to the theater, or watch it on your bedroom TV. Make sure you have an ample supply of snacks because the movie runs almost 3 hours including credits.
