Review of Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) by Stewart B — 29 Jul 2018
I think this film is incredible. As much as I have enjoyed that amazing resurrection of the series by J.J. Abrams (MI:3) because of that great Scooby Doo implementation and overall quality of the story and action sequences, I think Mission Impossible Fallout is just extremely impressive.
It's rare to see something similar in today's cinema but Tom Cruise doing all the practical effect in the film is extremely admirable and brings some extremely exciting action sequences that wouldn't have looked as good otherwise.
But this film is not just Tom Cruise and his insanity. MI6 has a great story. The story is actually incredible. It knows what was done in the past, it knows that people are going to figure our twists by now, so what was done? They twist the twist. It's just incredible.
Music in this film is also the best one yet in this franchise. When I saw Lorne Balfe's name at the start of the film, I was like 'It's such an obvious choice to have him on board'. He's made some incredible work in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series and having him here, bring that orchestral glory that the film needed so much. The usual theme track was completely transformed, it gave 'Fallout' the true sound and weight.
Overall, I must say I don't think this franchise can get any better. I think It should be the last film, such a grand ending! If there's going to be more films coming, well I'm waiting, but It probably won't be superior to this, it's actually - mission impossible.
