Review of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) by Pavelhr — 14 Jul 2023

Wow, great movie but with some gripes. The pluses are the great train sequence, the series having more in-depth romance and making the series more ensemble rather than just the 3 IMF agents.

I won't spoil it but the locations are great, the music is well-done and the stunts are thrilling. The new people they brought in that they'll carry forward to part 2 are also interesting. The story is exhilarating but it couldn't be done in 1 movie so you need to watch part 2 when it releases to see how it ends but the film still ends on a high note. There are no perfect movies and this wasn't one either. My gripes are that they kill off a main character which they gave more screen time to in the first half for seemingly no reason which I didn't like. Also the Rome and desert sequences were kinda boring, not bad but not memorable.

Honestly, a good movie, you probably won't be disappointed but the film goes deeper into action rather than spy-thriller so some fans could end up being somewhat disappointed. Go watch it.
