Review of Mission: Impossible (1996) by Diana L — 20 Apr 2012
It's interesting to see that his is how the movie series began. This was barely an action movie at all but more of a mystery and suspense type of movie with an albeit convoluted plot. Still, this is a great movie; my third favorite actually after 3 and 4.
This movie does have one of the best sequences in all four movies and that's the famous scene in which Ethan Hunt and his team attempt to download the noc list. No matter how many times I watch it, it always manages to still keep me in suspense.
In fact, this entire movie is expertly directed by Brian DePalma. And as always, Tom Cruise does what he does best. He's not the best actor in the world (as evidenced by his "angry" scenes), but he still has manages to have on screen charisma.
If you've never seen this movie I highly recommend it and I also recommend everyone re-watch it again and see just how different these movies have become.
