Review of Mission: Impossible (1996) by Vanda K — 01 Aug 2015
I decided to re-watch all the M:I movies as the premier of Rouge Nation is coming up. I realised that I've only seen the first movie and I loved it as a child. If I rate it from a nostalgic point of view I would say it is entertaining and quite funny with all the "high-tech" gadgets of the 90s but from an action movie point of view let's say it is average.
I wouldn't start listing all the holes and improbable solutions (i.e. computer room scene) that writers forced into the plot because we can blame those on the 90s. I blame the writers for making Ethan Hunt's character a bit too flat for a young, sexy and incredibly cool agent with zero sexual desire.
At least they stayed true to the title and came up with a series of impossible events which were surprisingly easily resolved by the hottest dwarf on the planet and made us kids realise that it is utterly awesome to be a secret agent.
