Review of Mission: Impossible (1996) by Perfect S — 16 Aug 2015
In honor of the release of the fifth Mission: Impossible movie -- a movie that I'm really excited to see -- I'll be ranking all the previous films with a brief review. Now, onto this movie:
"Mission: Impossible" is undoubtedly, a classic. But just because it's a classic, doesn't mean it gets a free pass. Honestly, a lot of stuff in this movie is really just convoluted, and the third act is disappointing. The movie moves at a reasonably standard pace, so if it were a little bit longer (around the 130 minutes or so), it could've been less of a letdown. Some plot twists were fairly predictable, such as the Jim being the real spy. I had that coming 60 minutes in at the very least. Tom Cruise saves this movie, as his stylish performance and wide spectacle make it worth watching. A solid movie with a few entertaining moments.
6/10.
