Review of Mission: Impossible (1996) by Liamexe — 26 Jun 2022

This film is first and foremost a lot of fun. There is a tonne of fast-paced action and some memorable set pieces (such as the scene where Cruise dangles over the computer, which became an instant classic and so remains).

But it completely missed the objective of the first season. The plot of Mission Impossible had a group of eccentric and gifted people coming together to beat all odds. Cruise, Cruise, and more Cruise dominates this film.

It's excellent movie on its own. The team chemistry that made Mission Impossible such a unique series, however, has nothing to do with it. It's still all about the superstar person rather than the team, perhaps a reflection of the times that hasn't changed many years later.
