Based on the most iconic American spy franchise, 'Mission Impossible' is a puzzling, thrilling film that is buoyed by a smart script and top-not acting led by Tom Cruise and Jon Voigt. Brian De Palma does a great job bringing the story to life, which finds Cruise starring as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, who must piece together what happened after his team is murdered during a botched mission.

'Impossible' features a good mix of high powered action (including the unforgettable rooftop train and chopper tunnel ride) as well as a large amount of strategic thinking and conversations. The film also finds good was to incorporate unique locations, from Prague to London, and there are plenty of twists and turns that keep the audience guessing.

Interestingly enough, there are also a few comedic parts thrown in as well, despite the overall serious tone of the plot. As is the nature of any action movie, there are certain instances that are extremely out in left field, with close calls and near misses that really do keep viewers enthralled.

Thanks to originality and smart filmmaking, 'Mission Impossible' still stands as one of the more well-done films of its genre to date.
