Review of Mission: Impossible (1996) by Francisca M — 01 Jul 2011
It's hard to imagine that this movie spawned the sequels. The sequels are so much different from the first. I love this movie even though it's bad in regards to some parts. It's also one of the few movies that I find Tom Cruise likeable.
The movie was more spy/ covert/ euro than the sequels. However, it's not perfect. First off, the only time we see Luther be useful is when he jams the signal of the transfer of the NOC List. He really didn't do anything much at Langley.
He was a downer. Also, why is there a rat in the ducts at a top facility? It's nice that there wasn't a lot of big action scenes. The helicopter and train scene was the biggest and that image of Ethan flying into it is great.
For some reason, this movie worked and you watch it. It's simple but some of things were silly. it's also hilarious that Emilio died in the beginning. A nice beginning to a franchise that changed a lot of things.
