Review of Mission Impossible (1971) by Jamie J — 02 Apr 2014
A tad too old school for it's own good perhaps, but the first in the rebooted Mission Impossible series is still an entertaining watch. Unlike the sequels which prioritised action over the storyline and pacing, the first film for the most part gets it right.
And when the set pieces do kick in you are thoroughly entertained. I suppose in hindsight the story is a touch predictable, but that's all part of the fun. It's nice seeing all the pieces fall into place, even if after eighteen years you know exactly what will happen.
But for a real thinking mans film, try the rebooted Tinker Tailor instead.
