Review of Missing in America (2005) by Henry T — 03 Jun 2007
Everything about this movie seems anachronistic, from its depiction of Viet Nam veterans living in the woods with minimal technology to its release in the 21st century. I can't remember the last movie about Viet Nam veterans came out, but "Missing in America" seems more like 1980s fare than a modern release.
Be that as it may, all of the actors put in solid performances and the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. My only complaint is that the ending seems gratuitiously unhappy. I don't mind a sad ending if it serves some purpose, but the director's choice here seemed almost cliche in its attempt at heartbreak, seemingly motivated by little more than a desire to force the plot unnaturally into the confines of an obscure aphorism.
