Hollywood is a cliche and that Hollywood is mostly left leaning in its politics is a fact. Not missing a chance to bash the NRA and gun owners, Jessica Chastain plays a figuratively gun slinging (pun intended) lobbyist hired to kill a gun control bill pending in Congress.
As played by Miss Chastain, her Miss Sloane could be a one woman cure for global warming in that she is the quintessential ice queen. Her hard exterior and impenetrable interior make her reptilian, she's that cold.
She is Dick Cheney in a push up bra. The cast is first rate with John Lithgow, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sam Waterston and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as her foil and conscience, but Miss Sloane was created without one.
The all to cute denouement is a bit too pat, but overall the film is interesting, watchable if not quite enjoyable.
