Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Chris S — 15 Dec 2009
This film is nothing but modestly promising- it has very few laughs; and the acting seemed to be rather forced, especially the quirky role of Amy Adams, who, at times, becomes quite badgering, too sweet for my taste.
The periodic story, on the other hand, gives the film a certain gem, for Miss Pettigrew herself believes in the account of true love, genuine and idealistically real. The script, too, displays an appreciation for literature, which I liked. Again, I reckon it as a quite modest film; yet, in the end, the movie, the sum of its whole, appears comparatively bland.
