Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Nate C — 29 Nov 2008
One of those old fashioned Romantic movies that we don't get anymore. Its beautifully and light heatedly made with an absolutely brilliant cast.
"Miss Pettigrew lives for a day" is the story of Guinevere Pettigrew, a middle-aged London governess, who finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. An attempt to gain new employment catapults her into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse.
Amy Ryan and Frances McDormand both give heart wrenching performances, maybe not the best of 2008 but definitely notable.
It is a light hearted Romantic Comedy with a slightly predictable ending. But this does not make the movie any less enjoyable.
