Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Dottie P — 07 Jul 2009
Predictable story, but great acting. Amy Adams is positively delightful as a Marilyn Monroe-esque cabaret singer who will do anything to be a star. It's the kind of performance you'll watching again and again because it's just so darn good.
Frances McDormand was wonderful as well, but that tends to go without saying. The movie was also beautiful to look at thanks to the costumes and scenic designs. This was one glamorous day most ladies wouldn't mind having (you know, sans living in a country on the brink of WWII).
