Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Jonathan H — 13 Jul 2009
Great acting and chemistry elevates this slight story into something special. Makes me want to revisit the screwball comedies of the 30's.
McDormand and Adams don't disappoint. However, it was Pace and Hinds that surprised me. Ciaran Hinds, in particular, commanded every scene he was in. I have to go back and revisit Persuasion, the Jane Austin film he did over a decade ago. I thought he was magnificent in that film. It's been too long since he was a protagonist.
