Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Shan L — 25 Feb 2010
I adored this movie! It had everything that I just love from glamorous costuming to plushy, feathery, art deco settings to fun music and an enchanting love story. I loved the genre set in 1939 London. Also, great cast choices.
Frances McDormand, plays Guinevere Pettigrew, a drab "Mary Poppins"- like character who comes to work for Delysia Lafosse, a dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer played by Amy Adams, who I love. Miss Pettigrew gets caught up in Lafosse's love triangle. It was a delightful, whimsical romantic comedy that had me smiling to the end.
