Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Josh B — 12 Jan 2017
Okay so I'm really tired of people talking about how it sticks to the book. It does not. Not only does it mess up who has what powers, it changes their personalities and dumbs down the females in the movie! The girls, the women, were strong! Were capable.
This movie turned them into scared little girls and lovelorn teenagers. There were peculiarities just made up, and added that made no sense! They made it a romance of all things! It literally seemed like Tim Burton read the first two chapters and went, 'Hey I got an idea!' but didn't bother with the rest.
I love Tim Burton, I love the books, and somehow putting both together made crap!
