Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Thomas Katie S — 17 Feb 2017
Although it resembles an obvious 'X-Men' knock-off, there was intrigue for a movie that promised to blend bittersweet childrens tale with dark fantasy. Unfortunately, like Arsenal football team, it crumbles at key moments due to disjointed storytelling which fails to develop substantial backstory and believable motivations for its characters.
Furthermore, it suffers from an unconvincing actor as the protagonist, a disappointing climax on Blackpool Pier (really the best location you could do?) and Samuel L.Jackson who, despite delivering couple trademark funnies, is clearly just collecting his millionth paycheck.
