Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Marc U — 26 Oct 2018
The concept for this movie is interesting, but it failed to deliver. This movie lacked the unique imagery that I would usually expect from Tim Burton. The movie is full of clichés and weak plot twists that do not help the story to standout as original.
The Barron, the antagonist played by Samuel L Jackson, is weak and whinny. The writers tried to make him funny, which does not work at all for this film. There are also obvious inconsistencies with the Barron's shape shifting limitations.
His eyes needed contacts to change colors. There is a scene in which his eyes change color without contacts. Why bother to even mention he needed contacts at all? This movie is cheesy rather than fascinating.
Not worth a second viewing.
