Review of Miss March (2009) by Billy B — 28 Jul 2011
Eugene awakens after being in a coma for four years. His best mate Tucker informs him his father has left him, and his high school sweetheart (who he was about to lose his virginity to on their prom night) is now a playboy bunny. They travel accross the state to go find her.
In the comedy genre, not many films pass for me. Sex comedy's are usually always watchable with a few laughable moments here and there, but this was laughable for all the wrong reasons. The character's were annoying, and it's unbeleivability (norm for the genre) was just stretched way too far. It's in the tradition of Sex Drive and somewhat Road/Euro trip, but it's horrible jokes and gags seen way too many times really just leaves the viewer waiting for the pile of crap to end. The biggest surprise of the entire flick for me was the fact Hugh Hefner actually signed on for the film and used his bloody masion. He must not have read the bloody script or just thought because they were using his magazine as a key plot point was cool.
The plot, which is not original in anyway whatsoever, is the same as Road Trip and Sex Drive just with different characters and a different girl. The characters were unlikeable, and the predictable outcome of everything was just annoying. The only highlight of the film is the nurse from the hospital, who's accent and weight provided a few chuckles from me.
The acting was horrid. Zach Cregger plays Eugene, the coma-boy, and was so stupid and just a douchebag. Even worse was his worse friend Tucker, played by Trevor Moore. Raquel Alessi is hot, but she couldn't manage to make the film worth viewing.
Overall "Miss March" is tiresome piece of shit that just proves originality is needed in comedy these days, because so many films come out that are the same plot that they lose the audience within the first twenty minutes. My rating is 1/5.
