Review of Miss Congeniality (2000) by Anssi V — 12 Jun 2010
Essentially I like this film's basic idea: the ultimate tomboy FBI agent has to infiltrate a beauty contest in order to catch the criminal. And the movie actually holds a pretty good amount of jokes on this subject.
Most of them aren't that good, but what did you expect. No, the problem isn't the humour - not the biggest problem, at least. The problem is that the plot moves ahead inconsistently, it has a lot of holes in it and sometimes the movie just moves ahead because it has to.
And the grande finale is just stupid. I mean, a bomb in the crown? Stupid! But, yeah... this movie was watchable. It sure as hell wasn't good, but Sandra Bullock wasn't half bad, there was a lot of beautiful women and the beginning of the movie actually kicked some amount of ass.
In a nutshell, not a total waste of time.
