Review of Miss Congeniality (2000) by Nathan S — 10 Oct 2017
I love this movie/ While following a Cinderella trope of drab girl gets makeover and gets noticed by hot guy, the film also has a feminist bent where the woman in question happens to be an ass kicking FBI agent.
Bullock, Caine, and Bergen are all laughing out loud funny in this delightful feel good farce. Like many classic feel good movies (think Clue and The Cutting Edge), this is one of those movies that audiences love for the long haul and critics love to criticize.
In 20 years it will be included in one of those classic romantic comedy packages alongside Dirty Dancing, Clueless, and Legally Blonde. Not everything can or should be A Martin Scorsese film. Sometimes you just was something funny and light hearted.
