Review of Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) by Konrad A — 12 Jul 2007
The structure of the film juxtaposes reality with art -- episodes from his novels alternate with scenes from the last day of his life, concluding with his suicide, which itself is juxtaposed with the suicide of one of his characters.
A real success in its use of theatrical sets for the scenes from the novels. Um, Philip Glass was not in the cast, he did the score, which really enhances the madness and grandeur of the man's art and life.
