Review of Misery (1990) by Connor G — 03 Jun 2010
Not nearly as impressive as people claim, it's not exactly as suspenseful or terrifying as the book. It's way too visually descriptive and dramatized to be up there with something like Carrie or The Shining.
Part of that goes to the fact that Rob Reiner is not a horror director and just wasn't a good choice to bring this to life. What really makes this a worthwhile and interesting movie are the performances from James Caan and Kathy Bates.
