Review of Misery (1990) by Steph O — 30 Jul 2010
Kathy Bates is delightfully wicked in this role. James Caan's pain is my pleasure. Tension is high, even early in the movie, when you know escape isn't coming any time soon. Even the secondary characters are enjoyable, and it adds to, rather than detracts from the movie, when they cut to them.
It did lose half a star because Rob Reiner decided to put a "Vote Nixon" pin in the murderer's scrapbook. Very subtle, Rob.
