Review of Misery (1990) by Jeff L — 21 Jan 2011
Masterfully made to near perfection with electrifying performances from James Caan and Kathy Bates. The writing is consistently strong and the suspense adds to the terrifying feel of the film. There are strong similarities between this and The Shining through the ideas of escapism and hell.
An often unsettling watch, this movie ventures into so much foreign terrain that it's hard to place it in one genre. Suspenseful, magnifying and unpredictable, this is surely one of the best, if not the best Stephen King novel adaptation.
