Review of Misery (1990) by Victoria C — 08 Mar 2011
This is one of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel.
Paul Sheldon is a successful writer who decides to get rid of the heroine of his novels - Misery Chastain. Unfortunately for him, though, after a car accident he finds himself immobilized and tortured by a woman who claims to be his number one fan. She keeps him prisoner and now he has no escape as only to bring back to life Misery.
Kathy Bates is an extraordinary actress, she is so good in the role of Annie Wilkes (no wonder she won an Oscar for this performance) that I actually can't imagine anyone else playing that role. The director is Rob Reiner who also directed another wonderful movie - 'Stand by me'. Overall, it is a very good film, worth watching.
