Review of Misery (1990) by Roman N — 23 Apr 2011
Based off the Stephen King book. Misery is directed by Rob Reiner who usually directs more family friendly movies. But this is his first foray into the horror genre and his second movie based off of one of Kings stories.
Misery is a about a writer who gets In a horrific car accident, he is rescued by a nurse who seems nice enough, and it turns out she is a fan of his books, but she goes ballistic when she finds out he killed off her favorite character, she keeps him hostage until he writes a new book bringing the character back to life.
This movie relies on suspense and tense moments instead of gore or cheap jump scares. Kathy Bates won a well deserved Oscar for best actress for her performance as the psychotic nurse. Misery is an absolute masterpiece and totally worth checking out.
