Review of Misery (1990) by Calvin C — 26 Nov 2013
This could have easily been a straight-up psycho bitch movie, which it is, but Kathy Bates makes Annie Wilkes a sympathetic character. She is kind, troubled, and crazy all at the same time. This is a woman who has a dark past and only James Caan's character's books keeps her sane. Unfortunately, Annie is too much into the books that it becomes her life. Bates gives a chilling performance that earned her the Best Actress Oscar and it made all famous writers think twice before driving in a snow storm.
Grade: A-.
