Confession time. Iâ(TM)m a sucker for fairy tales. Typical, I know, but Iâ(TM)m not afraid to admit it. One of my favorite sick day movies is the 10th Kingdom. And it isnâ(TM)t even that great! Blah blah blah, review time, go! A baby girl is born. Her skin as pure as snow. Her hair as black as night. They called her (spoiler alert!)â¦Snow White. The opening animation was awesome. I loved how it was done. Lily Collins was a great pick for Snow. I liked how they kept her hair long and had it pulled back a few times. The only distracting thing was her eyebrows. They were extremely thick and very long. Too long. Scary long. Thereâ(TM)s no way her eyebrows are naturally that large for being a Caucasian woman. Okay, I Googled her and her eyebrows are very normal in her pictures outside of Mirror Mirror. I donâ(TM)t know why they made her eyebrows so obnoxious. She has some of the most beautiful facial features but the eyebrows grabbed my attention in every scene she was in andâ¦.. Sheâ(TM)s the main character!

Julia Roberts plays the evil queen. She has very vibrantly colored, large poofy dresses. She goes in and out of her American accent and forces a British accent at some points. This was a really distracting part of the movie. The opening dialogue is Roberts reading to you about Snow White. Even during the small opening her accent goes in and out frequently. Pick an accent! Either be American or be British. Donâ(TM)t be both in the same movie. That was another weird thing about this movie. All of the characters are in the same fairy tale realm yet some have American accents and yet again some are British. I mean Boromir (Sean Bean) is Snowâ(TM)s dad!

The dwarves have different names and are practically a circus act. They are bandits on accordion stilts. Itâ(TM)s very strange and only somewhat entertaining. I loved the animation on the forest beast. Well done. They take a tiny spin on the typical Snow White story. Lots of family drama, compassion for the poor village, and Snow cooking and cleaning for the bandit dwarves. The prince is very charming and of course sweeps Snow off her feet after she breaks his puppy love for the queen. Mirror Mirror will have you cringe at pairs of sparkling white teeth yet snickering at the same time. Pretty enjoyable overall. More of a sick day movie versus a frequent re-watch.
