If they did a little learning they'd know that when you eat starches it coats your stomach and intestines with a greasy-like film that prevents you from absorbing nutrients you need. Now, when you're sick and you're not eating you usual pallet of junk (starches and flesh) and you're constantly being flushed with fluids like the girls was with her hospital stay and her body gets a break from the junk food, you will flush away that waxy film from the intestine and stomach and the healing begins with the nutrients being able to be absorbs by these organs again.

Nothing special here but the miracle of FASTING! Good movie though minus the fact you see how usless doctors really are.
