Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Jennifer F — 08 Mar 2009
The McGuffin symbol in the movie will enable countless students to write interesting term papers on this project. I thought Spike Lee did a fine job of really putting the human element back into wartime. No longer does the viewer feel like they are watching an anthropomorphic chess game with flesh and blood playing pieces, but the story is all the more traumatic because one becomes intimate with multiple characters.
While a good film, it lacks excellence but was interesting enough that I am considering reading the source material. I'm glad a movie that tells their story was made though, it was high time. Must-see for older children, pair it with Glory.
