Spike Lee's first attempt to make a war movie. Combining a murder mystery and war drama, lee came up with this powerful yet slow moving drama. Obviously no oscar contenders. The raical sterotypes do make his white audiences uncomortable, but his films were never meant to be romantic.
It is actually one of the WWII movies that is a million times better than "Valkeryie".
