Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Matt A — 13 Sep 2009
I am not a huge Spike Lee fan, but I thought this WWII tale captured the interpersonal relationships and human toll of war well, similar to Defiance starring Daniel Craig. The racism of the time is pointedly acknowledged without an overly broad brush, but the Nazis calling the Partisans "terrorists" who are not subject to the Geneva Convention is a classic Spike Lee political statement.
