Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Matthew B — 13 Jan 2010

This was one awful movie. They should have chopped off a half hour or more, fixed up some of the bad cuts that were taken, and wrapped up some of the plot lines that were just thrown around for no reason.

Every time that I saw Bishop throughout the movie, I wanted to punch him. His character was so annoying. Did they even have gold teeth in World War II? I think that it's awful that he ended up with the Italian woman.

Also, there was an awkward scene near the middle of the movie involving a Louisiana diner where the group were denied service due to their skin color. After that, though, they come back in and hold the place up at gunpoint demanding service.

The hell does that teach? You can be a total ass and still get the girl? That you can disprove racism by putting a gun to someone's face? Overall, the movie was just too choppy and a major letdown when I was hoping for a quality war movie.
