Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Jeffrey W — 27 May 2009
Excellent movie from Spike Lee about the discrimination faced by black soldiers in WWII and how they find humanity within a young boy in the Italian mountains. Revolving around an incident at St. Anna the story follows four young black soldiers who survive an assault by German forces after their white Colonal refuses to give support.
The film is long at 2 hrs 40 mins but never drags, with all scenes relevant to the plot and development of the story. Says more about the motives of men at war than other more action heavy films. A must see.
