Review of Miracle (2004) by David K — 06 Jan 2008
One of the top 5 best sports movies ever made, according to me at least. "Miracle" does so many things right that I don't even know where to begin. Kurt Russell's performance is top notch and it's a shame he didn't get any nominations for the role.
The editing really makes the film work its magic though. We are shown the right images at the right time and I can't help but smile and get goosebumps when I watch. One of the greatest attributes that this movie has that a lot of other sports movies don't, is the backstory.
"Miracle" doesn't just show the 1980 Olympic game, it spends a good 2 hours setting up the importance of the game, so that when the game finally arrives on screen, we are in the mindset that a lot of Americans were in at the time.
It's spectacularly done and a real pleasure to watch.
