Review of Miracle (2004) by Aj S — 08 Jul 2010
A very good depiction of what America was going through during the near endpoint of the Cold War, the Gas Crisis, post-Watergate, and of course a hockey team that would make us forget all about these worries.
Kurt Russell probably gives one of the better performances of his career, and with a great selection of a supporting cast to tag along with him, makes this movie a great watch. Sure it's one of those docu-sports dramas where we know how the movie is going to end (spoiler: WE WIN), but the story of how the American Hockey Team made it to the point where those famous words, "Do you believe in miracles!?" came through the TV screens around the world, it's quite breathtaking.
There really isn't any new grounds broken here with this film, it's the same genaric sports films, and I guess that's ok.
