Review of Minority Report (2002) by Steve W — 27 Dec 2011
Spielberg's undisputed science fiction masterpiece. The blue and colour give this film the perfect mood. The science elements are taken right from the book and it fits perfectly. It mixed a murder mystery noir, the twist is that it hasn't happened yet.
The details of the future is nicely designed. The movie looks futuristic, often blowing you away with all the cool technology and equipment.
The only flaw is the pacing. The movie takes too much time setting up the story, the main element that gets the main story going happens a good 30 minutes into the plot and should happen earlier.
The chase scenes and stunt sequences were done by Jan De Bont, which are exciting and pulse pounding. The movie trailers definitely marketed chasing and running, and the jet pack chase scene is a highlight.
With themes of destiny and control, Minority Report is a result of a good script, good direction, acting, music, and stunts. A classic science fiction movie from Steven Spielberg.
