Review of Minority Report (2002) by Jason H — 06 Mar 2012
This movie is one that I have always had a major problem with the plot. It simply doesn't work. Here is your spoiler warning. Pre-crime prevention or the use of psychic precognitive abilities to stop violent crime before it happens.
Really it is a pretty cool idea, however the story is about a murder that happened while the system was in place and the true murder got away. The murder sets up a contract murder then after the attempt is prevented murders the target himself knowing that the second crime will be passed off as a psychic echo and will not be recognized as a second crime.
All good and well the mastermind has got away with the perfect crime. The problem however is that there is a complete lack of imagination in what these precognitive individuals are able to do and see.
They are treated like a camera that has limited perspective and there lies the problem the mastermind has no idea what the psychics will see. It is a magic trick that will work on a normal person but it lacks imagination.
I don't think the movie was done poorly I just think the story was bad.
