Review of Minority Report (2002) by Sidney S — 23 Mar 2012

Spectacular, jaw dropping and breathtaking. An intelligent, visually impressive and in depth sci fi film that pulls out all the stops. Minority Report is the best futuristic sci fi film since Blade Runner.

This film has one of the most impressive story lines ever recorded on film, it was complex, dark and filled with treachery. I absolutely loved the tone of it presenting a neo noir/tech noir film with the rain, dark lighting, shadows and music.

The pre crime aspect is incredible and smart but the effects and look of futuristic Washington DC is amazing! Tom Cruise completely delved into his character's psyche from the heartache, to his paranoia and ultimately his will to prove his innocence and get to the bottom of the murder he has yet to commit.

Colin Farrell gave a really impressive performance as the man against the pre crime branch and the one that is hunting Cruise for the film. The film's awesome story just gets better as the film proceeds and takes some incredible and at times mind boggling twists and turns to a great climax.

This is Steven Speilberg's best film in years and his directing in this film is one to be reckoned with. It surprises me that this film isn't nearly as popular as other sci fi greats such as The Terminator, Alien, Blade Runner and The Matrix, this film is awesome and how this was overlooked at the Oscars and Globes especially the screenplay, directing and performance by Cruise is beyond me.

Triumphant film making one of the best of the decade, one of the best of the genre. Speilberg's first out of two big hits of 2002 (the second is Catch Me If You Can).
