Review of Minority Report (2002) by Dov D — 06 Oct 2012
This is without a doubt Spielberg's most underrated, under-appreciated film and should be considered one of his best. His hauntingly accurate portrayal of the not-so-distant future rivals Terry Gilliam's Brazil and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner as the face of sci-fi landscapes.
Tom Cruise does a surprisingly effective job at playing an unusually gritty character for a Spielberg sci-fi movie. There is the occasional cheesy moment and the chase sequences stray on the corny side of the vertical roads, but the deeper meanings and transcendent lessons embedded within the subtext and stated in the text are the primary reasons I loved this film.
Bottom line, this film worked on every level and ended with a bang. Definitely a movie worth your time.
