Review of Minority Report (2002) by Baurushan J — 11 May 2013

This movie was supposed to be the sequel to Total Recall, one of my all time favourite films and one of the best Arnold Schwarzenegger movies ever made and if that was so, then why didn't you bring Arnold back as the main hero? Instead we waited over a decade for this confusing storyline about PreCrime, a technology that exists in 2054 and was invented 9 years ago to capture future criminals with the help of Precogs who are three psychics and their future predictions are never in error.

When Officer John Anderton played by Tom Cruise is the next fugitive, he is on the run to find out who set him up as his own colleagues chase after him. After he kidnaps Agatha played by Samantha Morton, the most powerful precog out of the three, he begins to formulate a theory about a possible frame-up from within his own department when he finds out that the framer was in fact PreCrime's Director Burgess played by Max von Sydow.

This film whilst sure resembling a beautiful and complex film noir, it has confusing plot lines which made sense in the short story by Philip K.Dick this film was based off on whereas here, it doesn't seem to work.

A lot of critics seem to absolutely love this movie for certain reasons and for me, while this movie definitely did have it's problems, I thought it was good. The main problem I had with this movie is the happy ending.

All of Philip K.Dick's science-fiction stories don't have happy endings and this is what this movie screwed up and this screws up the future adaptations of his stories most famously The Adjustment Bureau.

Minority Report gets a solid 8.6/10.
