Review of Minority Report (2002) by Matthew G — 26 Feb 2014
A basterdization of the original short story that betrays the whole point of said source material. The whole point of the short story is that you cannot stop time and what happens in the future is inevitable.
The point is that he did kill this person he is accused of and wasn't set up. Spielberg ruins this by adding another 45 minutes of stuff justifying that Cruise's character is the hero. Like a lot of Spielberg's films around that time, it's riddled with unnecessary humor, too much exposition, and a clear point where the film should end but continues for another 30 minutes.
Add to that THE WORST MOVIE ENDING IN HISTORY! Not only that, there's stupid character actions throughout (see the Peter Stormare character helping him). Lastly, Phillip K. Dick stories do not have happy endings!
