Review of Minority Report (2002) by Brian K — 25 Jul 2012
6/21/02 - Minoirty Report is based on a Philip K. Dick story. It's a pretty cool concept - in the future police use precognitives to report crimes before they happen and arrest the future perps before they commit the crime.
Spielberg and Cruise live up to the hype. Minority Report is a fun, action thriller with some plot turns that keep you guessing some - kind of a futuristic murder mystery. Some of the plot turns were kind of predictable, but the future concepts were pretty cool; there were lots of cool concepts.
There were also some philosophical points about predetermination, but they weren't explored really deeply. It also touched on freedom and privacy in a big brother way, but there was not much depth there either.
There were lots of interesting points brought up but none of it was really fleshed out well. The ending was a little too pat as well. It was still a good movie, but it could have been a great one though.
