Review of Mini's First Time (2006) by Kailee H — 10 Jun 2007
It has an A-list cast, but the star is not an A-lister at all - Nikki Reed (who you may recognize from Season 3 of The OC) stars as Mini, a sociopathic twat who has an affair with her stepfather (Alec Baldwin) and plots the social "fall from grace" of her mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) before ultimately being responsible for her death. Nikki also narrates at times - and by the end of the movie, you just want to strangle her.
Jeff Goldblum plays a family friend who seems to be stalking Mini and Martin in the second half of the movie...and yet that's actually a good thing, given the plot.
Luke Wilson is underutilized, and therefore miscast, as the detective investigating the mother's death. In the few scenes he is in, he tends to rely on the other characters in the scene to carry it forward.
I think this could've been a little better, but it's worth a repeat watch or two, so...I give it 4 out of 5.
