The point of writing a serious review of this film is kind of lost on me, not only because it is a animated movie designed for children, but also because of Gentleminions and the abundance of ironic reviews this movie will undoubtedly garner.
The movie can stand on its own two feet, it's dumb fun for kids that will kill a few hours, Illumination has mastered the art of making movies I wish to describe as "pretty corpses" in that while the animation, sound design and everything regarding the film's production is of an admirable quality, it still seems plastic and lifeless.
This is a corporate movie that got pushed to success by a TikTok trend.
