Review of Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) by Loenne — 10 Jul 2022
This is the (2nd) greatest movie ever made.
Unironically though, it was a waste of a tuxedo. I laughed 3 times, which was 3 more times than I was expecting to. The comedy was mainly dry, full of screaming, toilet humour and kid-friendly violence, all of which I love if it's done right, but I'm sorry, this was executed awfully.
For a modern kids movie, however, the few jokes that land and the classic characters do make this better than average. I'm just sad that in a world where people exploit kids' short attention span and low bar for comedy, children's movies are getting less and less effort put into them. I'm dissapointed that this movie can be considered better than average; take your kids to see a Disney movie instead.
TL;DR- this movie is better than the average kids movie, which isn't saying much. Only go for the meme, or if your child won't stop kicking you in the shins until you go see it.
